I'm a book junkie. To show my love for the books I love, I write excessive amounts of summary and opinion.
My current and forever love: Harry Potter
Dobby: Our Free Elf

"Harry Potter," he squeaked in the tiniest quiver of a voice, "Dobby has come to rescue you"

With the absence of Dobby in almost every other movie, I’ve forgotten how crucial his role was in the series and in the course of Harry’s fate. Dobby was one of Harry’s greatest allies. He not only saved Harry’s life in more ways than he knows, but he embodies traits of a friend that everyone desires: unwavering loyalty. courage. bravery.
One trait that I think may go unnoticed is the importance of self-worth. Dobby knew he was not just someone’s slave; someone to be kick around and deem worthless. No, Dobby wanted to be free, even when other House-Elves thought that he was wrong. He didn’t care. He stood up for what he thought was right, even at great personal liberty. Isn’t that what everyone wants?— That deep-seeded courage and belief in yourself to go against society and follow your heart.
He came to warn a child he never knew, the famous Harry Potter, about the dangers at Hogwarts. He risked his life, and went against every fiber in his nature as a house-elf that told him he was not to defy his master. But he did it all for Harry.
He helped Harry in TwiWizard Tournament. He revealed to Harry the Room of Requirements to train the D.A. against vile Umbridge. With assumed great difficulty, he followed Malfoy for Harry, spying on his once master.
And in the end, Dobby died for Harry. He returned to his horrible master’s home, defied them once more, and died at their hands…all for Harry.
So, where would Harry have been, if it not for Dobby? Probably nowhere. Harry’s story would have been a short one, most likely ending with the memory of Riddle in the Chamber of Secrets.
